Siemens Stiftung, a lead partner of the World Urban Campaign, has announced the jury members for its newly established "empowering people. Award"

Established in 2008, the foundation designs and implements local and international projects with the aim of promoting individual responsibility and self-initiative, particularly in Africa, Latin America, and Germany/ Europe.

"empowering people. Award."  is a worldwide competition to identify low technological solutions or products for basic supply problems in developing countries. Individuals, teams, and organizations or enterprises fulfilling certain criteria can compete, and contenders must develop innovations that present appropriate technical solutions for development activities using the resources at hand in the regions.

The competition aims to both implement winning solutions and to showcase the innovations in a prominent central database after the competition has closed.  Additionally, the award platform serves as an ideal opportunity for the entrants involved to network and further evolve existing products and solutions.

The newly announced jury is made up of independent and renowned individuals from fields such as technology, politics and developmental work, including Mr. Andre Dzikus, Coordinator of the Urban Basic Services Branch, who will represent UN-Habitat.
