Dr. Clos named in top 100 on armed violence reduction

UN-Habitat Executive Director Dr Joan Clos has been named as one of the top 100 most influential actors in the global fight against armed violence.

The list, which was compiled by Action On Armed Violence, features prominent United Nations leaders, government officials, executives of non-governmental organisations and non-profit bodies, celebrities and survivors of violence who work in various capacities to reduce and prevent armed violence. According to the organisation armed violence which kills more than half a million people each year.

UN-Habitat and Libya to extend additional US 4 million to national planning agency

UN-Habitat hosts roundtable on urbanization and youth bulge

UN-Habitat hosted a high-level Segment Ministerial Breakfast Roundtable last week on “Harnessing the Dual Global Trends of Urbanization and Demographic Youth Bulge” during the ECOSOC Annual Ministerial Review at the United Nations Headquarters in Geneva. The roundtable was chaired by UN-Habitat Executive Director Dr. Joan Clos and participants included ECOSOC member states, Vice President of ECOSOC ambassador Martin Sajdik, representatives of United Nations agencies, high level business officials and representative from international organizations.

Mekong Region Governments commit to water programme
